One year ago today was the last time I saw Eden alive. She left with her dad to his house and died the next day Dec 29th 2008. I remember kissing her all over her face as she lay in the back of his car and she was annoyed with me because she felt so bad. After they were gone I went out and sat on the roof and prayed. I told God that she was in so much pain and asked for a miracle even if that meant taking her. Anything to take her pain away! At 2:10 the next day she was gone.

Five years ago this week we found out about Eden’s Cancer. It feels like that was 100 years ago. I find that I can focus on better times a little easier these days but it is always clouded by the fact that there will be no more with her! We all try to keep ourselves busy with friends, Vacation, work……. But it is very painful to think of moving on with life without her. Events come and go and she isn’t there and no memories of her being apart of them…

Riley is doing great training for the big Bike Ride and we are all looking forward to cheering him on. Rourke and I are both getting great quality time with him and I cant think of a better way to spend the summer considering.

Eden has been gone almost 6 months now and all I know to say is I miss her! I dream about her almost every night and think about her 1000 times a day. I heart aches for her and I would give anything to see her again and hold her again. I am not at all convinced this pain will ever subside.

On the lighter side, Riley is doing well with his fund raising efforts for the bike ride but he still needs more help! I am so proud of what he is doing and I know that Eden would be too.

I just heard this song by Alan Jackson called Sissy’s Song and I loved the words. There are tons of songs that remind me of Eden or of how we are all feeling but this one is special to us because Eden LOVED Alan Jackson! She knew many of his songs and would sing them often. Another song currently out is by Miley Cyrus called The Climb. And of course Eden loved Hannah Montana so it has a special place in my heart because Eden spent her life climbing impossible mountains. Not for fortune or fame but for her life.

We lost her almost 5 months ago and some days I feel like she was here yesterday and others it seems like a lifetime since I saw her sweet face. Everyday feels unbearable without her but we manage to continue to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.

I am so proud of what an amazing man Riley is turning into considering what he has gone through. I cant imagine having a disease thrust into your life that you don’t understand at 11 years old and watch what his sister went through for 4 years only to lose her when you are 14 years old. But I know he caries in him the same strength that got Eden through.

I wanted to share this picture of Riley and his "friend" Anna. I have had the pleasure of meeting her several times and she is truly wonderful. I love seeing Riley this happy!

On a sad note, I was just informed that Sweet little Jack Brown passed away on Sat. He and his family are from the UK but we were able to get to know them in VT while he and Eden were treating together. Now they are in Heaven together.
